Mariners 4, Rangers 0
Blake Beavan tossed eight superb innings and Casper Wells homered as the Seattle Mariners ended C.J. Wilson's scoreless innings streak en route to a 4-0 victory over the visiting Texas Rangers on Friday.
Texas remained 3 1/2 games ahead of the Los Angeles Angels in the American League West with 11 remaining.
Beavan (5-5) allowed four singles and struck out three as he earned his second straight win. The 22-year-old retired the first eight batters he faced and also set down the final eight while matching his longest career outing.
Wells began a three-run rally in the third with a one-out walk and scored on a throwing error by Rangers second baseman Ian Kinsler. He capped the scoring in the seventh with a leadoff homer off Wilson, his 11th blast of the season and seventh with the Mariners.
Wilson (16-7) ran his scoreless innings streak to 19 before yielding three unearned runs in the third. The lefthander allowed six hits and walked two in losing for only the fourth time in his last 22 starts.
Mike Carp had an RBI single and Brandon League struck out the side in the ninth for Seattle, which notched its fifth win in 15 games.
Endy Chavez registered two of the four hits by the Rangers, who had their four-game winning streak snapped.
