Dodgers 6, Pirates 4
Dana Eveland made his season debut and burned his former team by tossing eight solid innings as the Los Angeles Dodgers recorded a 6-4 road victory over the Pittsburgh Pirates on Thursday.
Rookie Dee Gordon belted a two-run double in the eighth inning and Aaron Miles had a two-run single in the first for Los Angeles, which has won four in a row and nine of its last 10.
Making his first start since July 7, 2010, Eveland (1-0) allowed one run on six hits to pick up the win. The journeyman pitcher was promoted from Triple-A Albuquerque prior to the game.
After Blake Hawksworth struggled, Kenley Jansen closed the door by securing his third save of the season.
Brad Lincoln (1-1) permitted three runs on six hits in six innings for Pittsburgh, which dropped its fifth straight and seventh in eight outings.
