Tigers 6, Rangers 2

Tigers 6, Rangers 2: Prince Fielder erased a deficit in the sixth inning with a three-run home run and Austin Jackson added an inside-the-park homer in the seventh as visiting Detroit won for the sixth time in eight games.

Andy Dirks began the Tigers' four-run rally in the sixth with a two-out infield hit and Miguel Cabrera followed with a single before Fielder bashed a 2-1 offering from Scott Feldman (6-7) into the seats in right field for his 20th blast and a 4-2 lead. Delmon Young capped the uprising two batters later with an RBI double off Robbie Ross.

With one out in the seventh, Jackson hit a line drive to right field off Tanner Scheppers. Nelson Cruz made an unsuccessful diving attempt, allowing the ball to roll all the way to the wall and Jackson to race around the bases for his 12th homer.

It was the first inside-the-park homer by a Tiger since Curtis Granderson accomplished the feat against the New York Yankees on Aug. 26, 2007. Jackson became the sixth player to hit an inside-the-park home run at Rangers Ballpark at Arlington and the first since Texas' Craig Gentry against Seattle on Sept. 23.

Max Scherzer (11-6) allowed two runs and eight hits over six innings to improve to 4-0 lifetime against Texas. The right-hander, who walked two, fanned eight to raise his season total to an American League-leading 168 strikeouts.

Josh Hamilton got Texas on the board in the first with his 31st homer, tying Adam Dunn of the Chicago White Sox for the major-league lead. It was his 96th RBI, also tops in baseball.

After Elvis Andrus' RBI single in the third doubled the lead, Cabrera halved the deficit in the fourth with a run-scoring base hit. The RBI tied Cabrera with Hamilton for first in the majors.

Feldman, who was pulled after Fielder's homer, surrendered four runs and six hits in 5 2/3 frames. The 29-year-old, who had won six straight decisions, fell to 0-3 in 11 career games against Detroit.

Michael Young went 3-for-3 for the AL West-leading Rangers, who had won five of their first seven meetings with the Tigers this year.

GAME NOTEBOOK: Cruz had an inning to forget in the seventh. Two batters after missing Jackson's line drive, he had Cabrera's fly ball pop out of his glove for a two-base error. Cruz finished the frame but did not return to the field in the eighth due to lower back stiffness. ... Tigers 2B Omar Infante went 0-for-3, ending his 10-game hitting streak. ... The Tigers remained one game behind the White Sox in the AL Central.
