Rangers 2, Tigers 1
Rangers 2, Tigers 1: Pinch hitter Mike Olt delivered a walk-off single with two outs in the ninth inning as host Texas evened the three-game series.
Brayan Villarreal (3-3) walked the first two batters in the ninth on eight pitches before being relieved by Phil Coke, who retired the first two batters he faced.
Hitting for Mitch Moreland, Olt grounded the ninth pitch of the at-bat into left field to plate Nelson Cruz with the winning run for the American League West-leading Rangers, who improved to a league-best 35-22 at home.
Mike Adams (2-3) recorded the final two outs in the top of the ninth to notch the win.
After racing around the bases for an inside-the-park home run in Friday's victory, Austin Jackson took a more leisurely trot to give Detroit an early lead as he deposited Derek Holland's fourth pitch of the game over the wall in right field for his 13th blast.
Omar Infante followed with a single off Holland, who allowed only one more hit before being lifted with two outs in the eighth. The left hander walked one and struck out nine.
The Rangers pulled even in the third as Cruz hit the last of three consecutive singles to plate Josh Hamilton.
Tigers starter Justin Verlander worked seven strong innings, allowing one run and seven hits while striking out eight. The reigning AL MVP and Cy Young Award winner retired the last 10 batters he faced.
