Dodgers 3, Giants 2
Hanley Ramirez doubled in the go-ahead run in the top of the ninth inning and visiting Los Angeles snapped a four-game losing streak against San Francisco.
After Adrian Gonzalez led off the ninth with his first triple this season, Ramirez followed with a run-scoring double to right-center field off Jeremy Affeldt (1-2). The victory moved the Dodgers 4 1/2 games behind the National League West-leading Giants.
Ronald Belisario (5-1) pitched a scoreless eighth inning for the win, and Brandon League worked around a two-out double by Gregor Blanco in the ninth for his second save. The Dodgers sit a half-game out of the NL’s second wild-card spot behind St. Louis, which dropped a 6-3 decision to Milwaukee on Saturday.
The divisional showdown featured a quality pitchers’ duel between the Dodgers’ Chris Capuano and the Giants’ Matt Cain, who allowed two runs over 7 1/3 innings.
The Giants grabbed an early lead in the first when Marco Scutaro scored on Buster Posey’s infield single off Capuano, who gave up two runs on five hits over seven frames.
Los Angeles tied the game in the sixth when Shane Victorino’s sacrifice fly scored Capuano, who singled with one out and advanced to third on Mark Ellis’ single.
The Giants pulled ahead 2-1 when Capuano wasn’t able to handle Brandon Belt’s liner in the seventh, allowing Posey to score from third. The Dodgers answered in the eighth when pinch runner Alex Castellanos scored on Cain's wild pitch.
