Aaron Hill knocked in the tying run in the ninth and the winning run in the 14th as host Arizona rallied to beat Baltimore in its last at-bat for the third straight game.
Baltimore's Bud Norris (8-10), making his first relief appearance since he was a rookie with Houston in 2009, issued back-to-back walks to start the 14th before Hill grounded a one-out single up the middle to score Gerardo Parra for Arizona's 26th win in its final at-bat. The Diamondbacks remained 7 1/2 games behind the Los Angeles Dodgers in the National League West and are 5 1/2 behind St. Louis for the second wild card.
Six Arizona relievers combined for seven innings of scoreless work with Heath Bell (4-1) pitching a perfect 14th for the win. Manny Machado hit a two-run homer among three hits and Taylor Teagarden and Brian Roberts each added three hits for Baltimore, which is 2 1/2 games behind Oakland in the American League wild card race and remained six behind Boston in the AL East.
The Diamondbacks took a 1-0 lead in the first when Matt Davidson beat out an infield single for his first major-league hit, scoring Martin Prado. Baltimore answered with four in the second as Nick Markakis started the rally with a two-run single and scored on Machado's two-run blast to left-center.
Parra's RBI triple made it 4-2 in the second and Prado's run-scoring single cut it to 4-3 in the seventh, setting up another late rally for Arizona. Parra led off the ninth with a double against closer Jim Johnson and scored on Hill's one-out single to left as Johnson suffered his ninth blown save in 48 opportunities.
GAME NOTEBOOK: Baltimore starter Chris Tillman allowed two runs on five hits over six innings, while Arizona's Patrick Corbin gave up four runs on nine hits over seven frames. … Baltimore SS J.J. Hardy went 2-for-5 to extend his hitting streak to 11 games. … Johnson blew a save in his third straight appearance, including two in a row against Arizona.
