Yovani Gallardo outdueled Mat Latos and Logan Schafer drove in two runs as Milwaukee took down visiting Cincinnati.

Gallardo (9-9) struck out three while allowing three hits and two walks over 6 1/3 innings to even his record. Norichika Aoki recorded two hits and Khris Davis scored for the eighth time in his last nine games for the Brewers, who moved a half-game ahead of the Chicago Cubs and out of last place in the National League Central.

Latos (12-4) struck out six and was charged with two runs on six hits in seven innings as the Reds dropped 3 1/2 games behind the NL Central-leading Pittsburgh Pirates. Cincinnati still enjoys a five-game lead over the Arizona Diamondbacks for the second wild-card spot in the NL.

Latos recorded two quick outs in the fourth before surrendering back-to-back singles to Davis and Scooter Gennett. Schafer followed and drove a 1-0 curveball to the wall in right field to plate the pair.

Brandon Kinzler worked 1 2/3 scoreless innings of relief before handing it over to Jim Henderson, who struck out the side in the ninth for his 18th save.
