Dodgers 3, Mets 2

Dodgers 3, Mets 2
: Andre Ethier and Juan Uribe had RBI singles in the top of the ninth inning and visiting Los Angeles held on to win the rubber match at Citi Field.

With the score tied 1-1 and a runner on third with one out in the ninth, New York elected to intentionally walk Matt Kemp and Ethier responded by hitting a 3-1 offering from left-hander Scott Rice (1-1) to right field to plate Nick Punto. Uribe followed with a run-scoring infield hit to make it 3-1, which proved vital when Ike Davis led off the bottom of the ninth with a solo home run.

The two-run Dodgers ninth made a winner of Kenley Jansen (1-0), who stranded a pair of runners in the eighth after starter Hyun-Jin Ryu yielded one run on three hits while striking out eight in seven stellar innings. Brandon League, who blew a save opportunity in a loss to the Mets on Wednesday, shook off the Davis homer to pick up his sixth save.

New York starter Jeremy Hefner matched Ryu with his best start of the season, also allowing a run on three hits. David Wright had a sacrifice fly in the sixth to account for the Mets' offense until Davis smacked League's fourth pitch over the wall in right.

Hefner hit leadoff man Carl Crawford with the fifth pitch of the game and Kemp singled in Crawford two outs later to make it 1-0, a lead that remained until Wright's RBI. Kemp went 11-for-24 on Los Angeles' six-game road trip, which he entered hitting .182.

GAME NOTEBOOK: Mets RF Marlon Byrd threw out Kemp attempting to advance from first base on a fly ball in the seventh. ... League has allowed a run in four of his last six outings. ... Los Angeles has won six of the last seven meetings, including five of six at Citi Field.
