Padres 1, Marlins 0

Yonder Alonso delivered a sixth-inning sacrifice fly and Jason Marquis dominated through eight innings as San Diego held off visiting Miami to complete a three-game sweep.

Will Venable had two hits and scored as the Padres won their fourth straight. Marquis (4-2) allowed five hits and struck out three before handing it off to Huston Street, who worked the ninth for his eighth save.

Ricky Nolasco (2-4) was the tough-luck loser for the Marlins, striking out nine while yielding a run and four hits in seven innings. Miguel Olivo provided the only extra-base hit with a double for Miami, which totaled one run in the series and has dropped six of eight.

San Diego loaded the bases on two singles and a walk with one out in the sixth. Alonso followed and drove a 2-1 fastball to left field, easily scoring Venable.

The Marlins had their best chance in the third, when Derek Dietrich led off with a single and Olivo followed with a double. But Nolasco grounded to third and Juan Pierre walked before Adeiny Hechavarria grounded into a 1-2-3 double play.
