Evan Longoria capped a three-run sixth inning with a tiebreaking RBI single as host Tampa Bay rallied to post its eighth win in 10 games.
Longoria also homered among his three hits, Ben Zobrist delivered a two-run double and David Price worked six solid frames for the Rays, who remained tied with Boston atop the American League East.
CC Sabathia (11-11) limited Tampa Bay to one hit over the first five innings before being solved in the sixth. Sam Fuld led off with a single and Desmond Jennings walked before Zobrist drove them both in with a double to center field.
Longoria followed with a base hit that plated Zobrist and added a leadoff blast in the eighth to help make a winner of Price (8-5), who yielded two runs and five hits in improving to 5-0 in eight starts since the All-Star break. Jake McGee and Joel Peralta each tossed a scoreless frame before Fernando Rodney worked a perfect ninth for his 30th save.
Sabathia fell to 11-13 lifetime against the Rays as he gave up three runs and six hits in 6 1/3 frames. Austin Romine and Ichiro Suzuki each drove in a run without recording a hit for the Yankees, who fell seven games out of first place in the East and 4 1/2 behind Oakland for the second AL wild-card spot.
