Tigers 4, Orioles 2
Brandon Inge hit a two-run homer and Johnny Damon drove in a run as the Detroit Tigers topped the Baltimore Orioles 4-2 in the final game of the season on Sunday.
Daniel Schlereth (2-0) pitched a career-high 3 1/3 innings of scoreless relief for the Tigers, who avoided a sweep and finished the season 81-81.
Detroit decided to rest Max Scherzer and use their bullpen to pitch the entire game, giving left-hander Phil Coke the start. The Orioles took advantage of Coke to grab 2-0 lead on RBI singles from Luke Scott and Nick Markakis in the first and second.
Brad Bergesen (8-12) started for Baltimore and did not give up a hit through the first 4 1/3 innings but allowed a single to Jhonny Peralta before Inge came up with two outs in the fifth and knocked his 13th homer of the season into the stands in left to tie the game.
Damon followed a double by Will Rhymes in the sixth with an RBI single to put the Tigers on top.
Jose Valverde worked the ninth for his 26th save.
