Tigers 11, Twins 10 (13)

Brandon Inge singled home the winning run in the bottom of the 13th inning as the Detroit Tigers pulled out a wild 11-10 win over the Minnesota Twins on Saturday.

After the teams exchanged big innings in regulation, neither could muster anything in extra time until the Tigers rallied in the 13th.

Johnny Damon opened with a single and advanced to second on a base hit by Cabrera. Detroit loaded the bases when Jhonny Peralta reached on an error by rookie third baseman Danny Valencia, who belted a pair of homers, including his second career grand slam.

Brendan Boesch grounded into a fielder's choice to keep the game going, but Inge sent Tigers fans home happy with a single to shallow right field off Randy Flores, Minnesota's ninth pitcher of the night.

Daniel Schlereth (1-0) earned the win with two innings of relief, working out of a bases-loaded jam in the top of the inning. Pat Neshek (0-1) took the loss.

Damon and Austin Jackson each had four of Detroit's 21 hits, while Cabrera and Don Kelly had two-run homers and Alex Avila added a solo shot.

Jason Kubel hit his 20th homer while Denard Span added four hits in defeat.

The Twins put up a pair of five-run innings but squandered leads both times, with the Tigers scoring the tying run in the seventh to force extra innings. The teams combined to use 16 pitchers while pounding out 37 hits.

Minnesota starter Carl Pavano was roughed up for seven runs on 11 hits over just four innings of work. Detroit counterpart Jeremy Bonderman wasn't much better, surrendering seven runs on nine hits in his four-inning stint.
