Mariners 3, Angels 1
Seattle scored three runs in the eighth inning to rally for a 3-1 victory over the Los Angeles Angels on Tuesday night at Safeco Field.
The victory helped salvage a standout performance from Mariners starter Felix Hernandez, who allowed three hits in seven shutout innings with eight strikeouts and three walks.
Brandon League (9-6) earned the victory despite allowing the Angels' run in the eighth. Closer David Aaardsma got his 26th save with a 1-2-3 ninth.
Howie Kendrick gave the Angels a 1-0 lead in the eighth with a ground-rule double.
The Mariners then got a sacrifice fly from Michael Saunders to tie the score at 1-1 before Adam Moore and Josh Wilson hit back-to-back RBI singles for the 3-1 lead off Kevin Jepsen (2-4), who took the loss.
Los Angeles starter Dan Haren matched Hernandez with seven shutout innings, allowing seven hits with eight strikeouts.
