Reds 7, Diamondbacks 5

Drew Stubbs belted a two-run homer and Orlando Cabrera collected three doubles and scored three times as the Cincinnati Reds built an early lead and held off a comeback attempt en route to a 7-5 victory over the Arizona Diamondbacks.

Jonny Gomes drove in two runs while Joey Votto and Ryan Hanigan added an RBI apiece for the Reds, who have won 12 of their last 14 meetings with the Diamondbacks.

Cincinnati stormed out to a 4-0 lead after one inning as Gomes hit an RBI triple and scored on an error before Stubbs launched his 18th home run of the season. Votto made it 5-0 in the second with a single that plated Cabrera, who kept the frame alive with a two-out double.

Arizona fought back to get within a run as Miguel Montero highlighted a three-run third with a two-run double and Kelly Johnson swatted a solo shot - his 21st - in the seventh.

Matt Maloney (1-2) allowed one run and struck out four in 2 1/3 innings of relief to notch the win and Francisco Cordero gave up a run in the ninth before recording his 36th save in 44 opportunities.

Reds starter Homer Bailey lasted just three innings, yielding three runs and four hits. He walked five and struck out five while throwing just 45 of his 83 pitches for strikes.

Joe Saunders (2-6) battled for 7 1/3 innings, surrendering seven runs - four earned - and nine hits. The left-hander walked one and struck out four in losing for the sixth time in seven decisions and falling to 0-4 on the road since being acquired from the Los Angeles Angels.
