Braves 4, Mets 1

Tommy Hanson threw seven innings of one-hit ball to win for the first time since July 3, pitching the Atlanta Braves to a 4-1 victory against the New York Mets on Wednesday at Turner Field.

Martin Prado gave Atlanta an early lead with a two-run double in the first inning and Omar Infante and rookie Jason Heyward added RBIs in the second for a 4-0 lead.

That was plenty of support for Hanson, who held the Mets to one walk while striking out three. Hanson (9-10) was winless in his previous 10 starts despite posting a 3.08 ERA during that span.

Heyward went 4-for-4 with a double and Infante was 3-for-4 for Atlanta (78-55), which has won five consecutive games to maintain a three-game lead over the Philadelphia Phillies in the NL East.

David Wright's double in the fourth inning was the only hit against Hanson, and rookie Luis Hernandez drove in New York's lone run with a single off Jonny Venters in the eighth.

Billy Wagner pitched a perfect ninth for his 31st save of the season.

Mets starter Mike Pelfrey (13-8) took the loss, allowing four runs and nine hits over five innings.
