Phillies 7, Marlins 4 (Game 2)
Chase Utley and Placido Polanco drove in two runs apiece to lead the Philadelphia Phillies to a 7-4 victory over the Florida Marlins in the second game of a doubleheader on Monday.
The Marlins won the opener, 7-1, earlier in the day.
Shane Victorino and Raul Ibanez chipped in two hits and an RBI each in the nightcap for the Phillies, who increased their lead over the San Francisco Giants to 1 ½ games in the National League wild card race while pulling to within one-half game of the Atlanta Braves in the NL East.
Florida grabbed the early lead on Mike Stanton’s solo shot in the second but gave it right back in the bottom of the frame as the Phillies exploded for five runs. Anibal Sanchez walked in the tying run before yielding an RBI single to Victorino. Polanco followed with a ground-rule double to drive in two more and Utley added an RBI single to cap the big inning.
Philadelphia chased Sanchez (11-9) with two more in the fifth.
Roy Oswalt (11-13) allowed four runs - three homers - and six hits in seven innings but struck out seven to improve to 5-1 since joining the Phillies.
Brad Lidge tossed a scoreless ninth for his 21st save.
