Giants 3, Padres 2

Juan Uribe singled home Buster Posey in the bottom of the 11th inning to give the San Francisco Giants a 3-2 victory over the San Diego Padres on Saturday afternoon.

Posey started the 11th with a double and Pablo Sandoval was walked intentionally before Uribe lofted a single to right field off Tim Stauffer (3-2). Posey got a good break off second and beat Ryan Ludwick’s throw to the plate.

The victory was only San Francisco’s second in 10 games against the Padres this season and moved the Giants to 2 1/2 games behind the Padres in the National League West.

Santiago Casilla (4-2) got the win for the Giants after pitching out of a jam in the top of the 11th-inning.

The loss snapped a five-game winning streak for the Padres, who got a dominant starting pitching performance from Mat Latos.

Latos matched his career high with nine strikeouts in six-plus innings. Latos allowed one run and five hits and was pulled after Pablo Sandoval’s leadoff homer in the seventh.

Chase Headley and Adrian Gonzalez delivered run-scoring doubles for the San Diego runs.

San Francisco tied the game in the eighth on Pat Burrell’s infield groundout.

Giants starter Madison Bumgarner allowed two runs and eight hits in seven innings.
