Alexei Ramirez hit a game-tying, two-run homer and Juan Pierre delivered a two-run triple as the Chicago White Sox rallied for four runs in the seventh inning en route to a 6-4 victory over the host Chicago Cubs on Friday afternoon.
Ramirez belted his eighth shot of the season off Randy Wells (1-3) after A.J. Pierzynski hit a leadoff single. Four batters later, Pierre snapped the 4-4 tie, giving him five RBIs in his last two games. Wells has yielded 16 runs in his last three outings.
Edwin Jackson (5-6), who has 21 strikeouts in his last three starts, picked up his first win since May 22 despite allowing four runs in six innings.
Sergio Santos worked a perfect ninth for his 18th save in 20 opportunities.
Aramis Ramirez homered and drove in two runs for the Cubs, who failed to post their first three-game winning streak of the year. Aramis Ramirez has collected eight RBIs in his last six contests.
Cubs reliever Kerry Wood, who was activated from the disabled list before the game, worked a perfect eighth in his first appearance since June 8 due to a blister on his index finger.
