White Sox 1, Cubs 0

Philip Humber threw seven scoreless innings to outduel Matt Garza, and Juan Pierre drove in the go-ahead run for the third consecutive game to lead the Chicago White Sox to a 1-0 win over the Chicago Cubs on Saturday at Wrigley Field.

The White Sox (42-42) moved back to .500 for the first time since they were 7-7 on April 16.

Humber (8-4) allowed five hits and three walks. He has posted quality starts in 11 of his past 12 outings and won six of his last seven decisions.

The White Sox were hitless against Garza (4-7) until the sixth, when Pierre's single plated Gordon Beckham, who had led off with a walk, moved to second on Humber's sacrifice bunt and went to third on a wild pitch.

Garza struck out seven in the Cubs' first complete game of the season.

Cubs outfielder Marlon Byrd (0-for-3) returned to the lineup for the first time since May 21, when he suffered facial fractures when he was hit in the face with a pitch by Boston's Alfredo Aceves.

The White Sox, who have won 15 of the past 20 meetings between the crosstown rivals, clinched their 19th series victory in their last 20 interleague series, including 10 straight on the road.
