Blue Jays 7, Yankees 3
Jose Bautista hit his major league-leading 19th homer of the year and J.P. Arencibia had a three-run double in the sixth inning to lead the Toronto Blue Jays to a 7-3 win over the New York Yankees at Yankee Stadium Monday night.
Carlos Villanueva (2-0) picked up the win going five innings, allowing one run on two hits. Villanueva made the spot start replacing injured Jesse Litsch.
Bautista gave Toronto a 1-0 lead with a solo homer in the first. The Yankees tied the game on a sacrifice fly by Robinson Cano in the fourth.
But Toronto scored five times in the sixth inning off loser Bartolo Colon (2-3) to break the game open. Corey Patterson opened the inning with a double and Colon sandwiched intentional walks around a sacrifice bunt.
The walks came back to haunt Colon, when Aaron Hill had an RBI single and Eric Thames followed with a bases-loaded walk. Arencibia then cleared the bases with a long double to center field.
Arencibia had four RBIs in the game and two hits.
Cano drove in all three New York runs. Derek Jeter went 0-for-5 and remains 25 hits shy of the 3,000 mark.
