Blue Jays 6, Rangers 4

Corey Patterson highlighted a two-out, six-run outburst in the fifth inning with a three-run homer as the Toronto Blue Jays began their 10-game road trip with a 6-4 triumph over the Texas Rangers on Monday.

Jose Bautista and Juan Rivera also homered in the fifth for the Blue Jays, who won for only the sixth time in 17 games.

Patterson snapped a scoreless tie by depositing an 0-2 pitch from Colby Lewis (1-3) over the right-field wall for his second blast of the season. Bautista, the reigning major league home run champion, hammered Lewis' next offering into the seats in left for his league-best eighth blast.

Rivera made it 6-0 two batters later with a two-run shot to help Kyle Drabek (2-0) to his first win in four starts. The rookie righthander allowed three runs and five hits in six innings, walked two and struck out a pair.

Jon Rauch allowed a leadoff homer to Nelson Cruz in the ninth before notching his fourth save.

Yorvit Torrealba also belted a solo shot for Texas, which fell to 4-3 on its 10-game homestand and 10-3 overall in Arlington this season. Michael Young had a pair of doubles to extend his hitting streak to 15 games.

Lewis was tagged for six runs and seven hits in five innings. He allowed all three Toronto homers, raising his season total to eight in four starts, and saw his career ERA against the Blue Jays rise to 8.80 in seven outings.
