Phillies 4, Cardinals 0
Cliff Lee recorded back-to-back complete-game shutouts for the first time in his career and St. Louis native Ryan Howard belted a two-run homer as the Philadelphia Phillies cruised to a 4-0 road victory over the Cardinals on Wednesday.
Jimmy Rollins also went deep in the fourth inning and Chase Utley had a run-scoring sacrifice fly for Philadelphia, which collected its 10th win in 12 outings.
With his mother and father in attendance, Howard capped a three-run fourth inning with an opposite-field shot for his 16th homer of the season.
The offensive outburst was more than enough for Lee (8-5), who has yielded just one run in his last four starts (33 innings). The high-priced offseason acquisition scattered six hits to secure his third complete game and third shutout of the season.
Kyle Lohse (7-4) permitted three runs on seven hits in eight innings for St. Louis, which has dropped two straight without Albert Pujols and nine of its last 11 overall.
