Astros 6, Cardinals 5

Bill Hall drove in the winning run in the bottom of the ninth inning as the Houston Astros came from behind to take down the visiting St. Louis Cardinals, 6-5 on Tuesday.

Brandon Lyon (2-1) blew the save but got the win and Hunter Pence homered for the Astros.

After working the count full against Mitchell Boggs (0-1), Hall reached out and hooked an outside pitch through the left side of a drawn-in infield, plating Michael Bourn with the winning run. Brian Bogusevic, who singled to start the rally, scored the tying run three batters earlier on a wild pitch.

It looked like Lance Berkman had made a nice homecoming for himself when he snapped a late tie with an RBI double in the top of the ninth.

The return of Berkman was the big story before the game and the fans gave the long-time Astros star a standing ovation when he came to the plate in the second. Berkman, who was traded last season and still lives in the Houston area, finished 2-for-5.

Albert Pujols sat out the first seven innings with a tight hamstring but came on as a pinch hitter and stayed in defensively for St. Louis.
