Cardinals 10, Astros 5
Yadier Molina and Colby Rasmus homered to lead the host St. Louis Cardinals to a 10-5 win over the last-place Houston Astros in a National League Central clash on Monday night.
After the Astros took a 1-0 lead in the top of the second inning, the Cardinals answered with three runs in the bottom of the frame, with the go-ahead run scoring on Nick Punto's triple. Molina hit a solo homer in the fourth and scored an inning later on a two-run shot by Rasmus as St. Louis raced out to an 8-1 lead.
Houston got back within three on an eighth-inning grand slam by Carlos Lee, but RBI singles by Skip Schumaker and Jon Jay sealed the victory.
Kyle McClellan (7-6) earned the win, striking out five while allowing one run on six hits over seven innings of work. J.A. Happ (4-12) lasted just 4 2/3 innings, allowing six runs on seven hits and three walks.
Molina went 3-for-4 on the night, singling home a run in the fifth inning. Jose Altuve finished with three hits for Houston, including a pair of doubles.
