Marlins 5, Phillies 2
All-Star Giancarlo Stanton and Hanley Ramirez homered as host Florida completed a three-game sweep over reeling Philadelphia.
Stanton muscled a high fastball for an opposite-field solo shot off Joe Blanton (7-7). Stanton, whose 19th homer made it 3-1 Miami in the third, has three homers and five RBIs in his last five games. With the Marlins clinging to a 3-2 lead in the eighth, Ramirez's two-run shot all but ended the suspense.
The Phillies dropped their fifth straight despite two hits and two runs scored by Juan Pierre.
Omar Infante and John Buck had RBI doubles for Miami, which has won four in a row for the first time since a season-best seven-game win streak May 1-7.
Ricky Nolasco (7-6) allowed two runs on five hits over seven innings, winning for the first time since he beat the Phillies on June 2. He fanned six and walked none. His sixth-inning wild pitch enabled Pierre to score, cutting Miami’s lead to 3-2, but Nolasco retired Shane Victorino with the tying run on third.
