Giants 6, Padres 5

Gregor Blanco homered and Madison Bumgarner won his seventh game as the Giants edged the host Padres.

The Giants sent nine batters to the plate and scored three runs in the first off Clayton Richard (2-7), who gave up six runs (four earned) on 10 hits over 5 2/3 innings.

Bumgarner (7-4) allowed four runs over six innings to win his second straight start. Sergio Romo worked a perfect ninth inning for his third save.

Blanco gave the Giants a 4-2 lead with his solo homer in the fifth before Cameron Maybin cut into the lead with a two-out, solo homer in the sixth.

One game after hitting a walk-off home run, Padres second baseman Logan Forsythe committed a key error with two outs in the sixth on Blanco’s ground ball, allowing Joaquin Arias and Brandon Crawford to score.

The Padres pulled close with single runs in the sixth and seventh innings, but they stranded two runners in the eighth and fell to 1-27 when trailing after six innings.

San Diego outfielder Carlos Quentin, who hit two solo homers on Tuesday, went 1-for-4 and is hitting .481 (13-for-27) with five homers and nine RBIs in seven games since coming off the disabled list.
