Diamondbacks 3, Giants 1

Cody Ross drove in two runs and Randall Delgado worked into the sixth inning as visiting Arizona salvaged the finale of the three-game series.

Martin Prado hit a one-out triple in the first inning and scored on Paul Goldschmidt’s sacrifice fly for Arizona, which snapped a three-game losing streak. Delgado (2-3) allowed three hits over 5 2/3 scoreless frames and Brad Ziegler yielded a run in the ninth before recording his fourth save.

Madison Bumgarner (10-6) was the hard-luck loser, yielding just one run and striking out six over seven innings. The loss dropped the Giants 5 1/2 games behind National League West-leading Arizona, which maintained a half-game lead over the surging Los Angeles Dodgers.

Arizona added to its lead in the eighth, when it loaded the bases before Ross delivered a two-run single off Jean Machi, who was recalled from Triple-A Fresno before the game.

Prado had three hits for the Diamondbacks, who won for just the sixth time in their last 18 meetings with San Francisco. Ziegler retired pinch hitter Jeff Francoeur with a runner on first to end the game.
