Giants 8, Diamondbacks 2

Hunter Pence and Buster Posey each had three hits and drove in a pair of runs while Yusmeiro Petit struck out 10 over six-plus innings as visiting San Francisco seized the rubber match of the three-game series.

Pence extended his hitting streak to nine games with a double in the fourth inning before belting a two-out solo homer in the fifth. Pence added an RBI single in the ninth and Hector Sanchez drove in three runs for the Giants, who have won five of their last eight contests.

Martin Prado had an RBI double in the first inning to extend his hitting streak to eight games. Prado, Adam Eaton and Willie Bloomquist had two hits apiece for the Diamondbacks, who have dropped three of four to fall six games behind Cincinnati in the race for the second wild card in the National League.

Petit (2-0), who pitched for Arizona in 2007-09, was charged with two runs on seven hits while making his third start of the season. A trio of relievers combined to strike out three over three scoreless innings to seal the win.

Sanchez plated Pence with a groundout in the second inning before giving San Francisco a 3-1 lead in the fourth after drilling a two-run double off Patrick Corbin (13-5) to center field. Sanchez came around to score on Petit's soft single to right before Pence launched a 3-2 fastball from Corbin over the wall in right for his 17th homer - and second in five games.
