Braves 11, Marlins 3
Chris Johnson finished with three hits - including a tiebreaking two-run double to spark a four-run sixth inning - as host Atlanta won its fourth in a row.
Jordan Schafer and Andrelton Simmons added RBI infield singles in the frame as the National League East-leading Braves won for the sixth time in seven games. Kris Medlen (6-7) allowed three runs on nine hits in six innings while Justin Upton and Brian McCann also recorded three hits apiece.
Adeiny Hechavarria went 3-for-3 for Miami, which had its three-game winning streak snapped. Dan Jennings (0-1) surrendered three runs on as many hits without retiring a batter in the sixth.
Johnson lined a two-out double just inside the first-base bag off Ryan Webb, scoring Upton and Freddie Freeman to give the Braves a 5-3 lead. Schafer and Simmons each drove in runs on balls that did not pass the pitcher’s mound, doubling the advantage.
Freeman’s sacrifice fly to center in the fourth put the Braves ahead 3-2, but the Marlins evened the score on pinch-hitter Greg Dobbs’ RBI single to right-center in the sixth.
