Nationals 6, Marlins 1

Jayson Werth blasted a three-run home run and Ryan Zimmerman went 3-for-3 with a pair of RBIs as Washington completed a three-game sweep of visiting Miami.

Right-hander Jordan Zimmermann (1-0) continued the Nationals' dominant pitching during the series, limiting the Marlins to one run on eight hits over six innings. Henry Rodriguez, Tyler Clippard and Craig Stammen each pitched a scoreless inning to close it out.

The Nationals staked Zimmermann to an early lead on Zimmerman's two-run double in the first. Bryce Harper added an RBI single in the third and Werth broke it open in the seventh with his three-run shot to left-center off reliever Mike Dunn.

Zimmermann's only mistake was a first-pitch fastball that Justin Ruggiano drove to right-center for a home run to plate Miami's first run of the season.

Marlins starter Wade LeBlanc (0-1) took the loss, allowing three runs — two earned — on five hits over five innings. He struck out five and walked two.

GAME NOTEBOOK: Harper went 2-for-4 and was 6-for-12 with two home runs in the series. … Marlins slugger Giancarlo Stanton went 0-for-2 with two walks to finish the series 1-for-9 with four strikeouts. … The Nationals begin a three-game series at Cincinnati on Friday, while Miami continues its six-game road trip with three games against the New York Mets.
