Mariners 3, Angels 2

Kendrys Morales delivered the go-ahead pinch-hit single and Felix Hernandez pitched eight solid innings as host Seattle knocked off Los Angeles.

Morales came up with two on and one out in the seventh and singled to left field off Michael Roth to drive in Kyle Seager with the decisive run. Morales was traded by the Angels to the Mariners in the offseason for pitcher Jason Vargas.

Hernandez (3-2) struck out seven in eight innings to improve his career mark against Los Angeles to 7-12. He allowed two runs (one earned) and five hits and walked one before Tom Wilhelmsen worked the ninth for his seventh save.

Los Angeles jumped out to a 2-0 lead as Chris Iannetta led off the third by depositing a curveball over the left-center field fence and Mike Trout hit a sacrifice fly later in the inning. Seattle tied the score in the sixth when Jesus Montero smacked a two-run homer off Joe Blanton (0-4).

Blanton allowed three runs and nine hits in six-plus innings. He struck out five and walked four.
