Chris Iannetta delivered a walk-off single with two outs in the 11th inning to give Los Angeles a win over visiting Seattle.
Kole Calhoun singled with one out against Bobby LaFromboise (0-1) and scored easily when Iannetta blistered a ball off the left-center field fence. The Angels won for the fifth time in six games and sent the Mariners to their 10th loss in 12 contests.
Cory Rasmus (1-1) struck out two in the top of the 11th for the Angels, who are 10-7 against Seattle this season with two games remaining.
Seattle’s Michael Saunders drilled a two-run single in the seventh to break a scoreless tie. Los Angeles pulled even in the bottom of the frame on Andrew Romine’s two-run base hit.
Angels starter Matt Shoemaker allowed two hits and two walks with five strikeouts over five innings in his major-league debut. Seattle’s Erasmo Ramirez was charged with two unearned runs and six hits in six-plus frames before leaving with groin tightness.
GAME NOTEBOOK: Seattle SS Brad Miller (hamstring) missed his sixth consecutive game. … Angels RHP Jered Weaver (forearm tightness) missed Friday’s scheduled start but asserts he will pitch one more time before the season concludes. … Mariners 3B Kyle Seager’s 106-game starting streak came to an end, but he entered the contest as a pinch hitter in the seventh and made a costly throwing error in the bottom of the frame.
