Angels 1, Twins 0

Jered Weaver scattered two hits over eight sizzling innings and Albert Pujols had an RBI single in the first as host Los Angeles salvaged the finale of a three-game series.

Weaver (5-5) permitted Doug Bernier's single in the first inning and retired 19 straight batters until Aaron Hicks' two-out single in the eighth. The Angels' ace capped his sterling performance by registering his ninth strikeout to improve to 4-1 over his last five starts overall and 8-2 lifetime versus the Twins.

Pujols provided all the offense after he drilled a 3-0 sinker from Mike Pelfrey (4-8) up the middle to plate J.B. Shuck for his 60th RBI. Pelfrey dropped to 3-1 in his career against the Angels despite yielding just one run on five hits in six innings.

Weaver made the slim offense stand up before giving way to Ernesto Frieri, who promptly walked Clete Thomas and hit Bernier with a pitch. Frieri rebounded by inducing a double play before striking out Chris Herrmann to secure his 25th save.

Mark Trumbo and Collin Cowgill had two singles apiece for Los Angeles, but Mike Trout (0-for-3) saw his career-high 15-game hitting streak come to an end.

GAME NOTEBOOK: Trout's hitting streak concluded after he flied out with a runner on third to end the seventh. He had struck out twice and was hit by a pitch earlier in the contest. ... Angels OF Josh Hamilton missed his third straight contest with inflammation in his right ankle. ... Los Angeles will begin a seven-game road trip on Thursday by opening a four-game set versus Oakland. Minnesota continues its seven-game road trip by beginning a four-game series at Seattle on Thursday.
