Dodgers 14, Brewers 4

MILWAUKEE -- Yasmani Grandal hit two home runs and drove in a career-high eight runs as the Los Angeles Dodgers crushed the Milwaukee Brewers 14-4 on Thursday afternoon at Miller Park.

Grandal was back catching Thursday after getting a day off and reached base six times, adding two walks and two singles. His three-run homer in the eighth inning against Milwaukee right-hander Rob Wooten was his third home run of the season.

Grandal added a three-run homer in the ninth against right-hander Jonathan Broxton.

Dodgers left fielder Alex Guerrero's sixth home run of the season led off the second inning and tied the score at 1. Los Angeles took a 3-1 lead in the third when first baseman Adrian Gonzalez drove in two runs with a single to left.

Milwaukee tied the score in the fourth on a solo home run by first baseman Adam Lind and an RBI single from center fielder Gerardo Parra.

The Dodgers broke the game open in the sixth. Guerrero scored on right fielder Andre Ethier's triple, breaking the 3-3 tie. Third baseman Juan Uribe drove in another run with a base hit to give LA the lead and Grandal made it 6-3 with a two-run single.

The Dodgers' offense made a winner of right-hander Carlos Frias, who gave up three runs, six hits and a walk with six strikeouts in six innings.

Brewers starter Mike Fiers also went five innings. He was charged with five runs, five hits and five walks while striking out eight.

Fiers struck out four in a row at one point, including all three batters he faced in the fourth on just nine pitches.

NOTES: Dodgers OF Yasiel Puig, out since April 28 with a sore left hamstring, will begin a rehab assignment at high-Class A Rancho Cucamonga, where he will serve as the Quakes' designated hitter. ... Milwaukee came into the game looking to win its second consecutive series and just its second series of the season. ... The Brewers lost their first seven series of 2015. ... Juan Uribe was back in the Dodgers' lineup on Thursday, batting seventh and playing third base. Uribe had a 13-game hitting streak snapped last night when he struck out as a pinch-hitter in the eighth inning. During his streak, Uribe batted .318 (38-for-107) with two doubles, a home run and five RBI. ... Brewers starters have 10 quality starts in the last 14 games while posting a 3.72 ERA. The rotation produced just two quality starts and a 6.12 ERA in the first 14 games.
