Pederson, Utley lead Dodgers past D-backs
PHOENIX -- Joc Pederson homered twice and Chase Utley homered and drove in four runs as the Los Angeles Dodgers weathered the loss of right-hander Kenta Maeda for a 7-4 victory over the Arizona Diamondbacks at Chase Field on Tuesday.
Pederson broke up right-hander Archie Bradley's no-hitter in the fifth inning, and Justin Turner and Pederson hit bases-empty homers in the sixth inning to put the Dodgers ahead for good.
Maeda (6-4) was removed from the game with what the Dodgers called a right lower leg contusion after being struck by a Paul Goldschmidt line drive in the last of the sixth inning.
Maeda fielded the ball and threw out Goldschmidt at first before going to the ground in pain. He is 4-0 with two no-decisions in six road starts.
Utley had a two-run single in the fifth inning, and his two-run homer in the seventh gave the Dodgers (34-32) a 7-4 lead.
Jean Segura had four hits and scored twice for Arizona (29-38), which had a season-long three-game home winning streak broken.
Goldschmidt, Jake Lamb and Chris Herrmann had a hit and an RBI for the Diamondbacks.
Goldschmidt, who had reached in 19 straight games, has 67 RBIs in 81 games against the Dodgers.
Right-hander Kenley Jansen struck out the side in the ninth inning for his 18th save.
Segura hit a ground double inside the bag at third on the 10th pitch of his at-bat leading off the first inning and scored on Jake Lamb's single, but Lamb was thrown out attempting to stretch it into a double by Dodgers right fielder Trayce Thompson.
It was the second run (first earned) Maeda had given in the first inning of his 13 starts.
Segura singled in a seven-pitch at-bat with two outs in the third inning before Lamb walked and Goldschmidt singled to center field for a 2-0 lead.
Bradley gave up only a first-inning walk to Corey Seager until Pederson broke up the no-hitter with his first homer with one out in the fifth inning to make it 2-1.
Yasmani Grandal and Howie Kendrick followed with walks before moving up on Maeda's sacrifice bunt and scoring on Chase Utley's single for a 3-2 lead.
Michael Bourn singled in the fifth and scored when Maeda fielded Segura's dribbler toward the mound but threw it down the right field line for an error. It was 3-3.
Turner and Pederson homered in the sixth inning to make it 5-3.
David Peralta singled, took second on a wild pitch and scored on Chris Herrmann's single in the sixth.
