Diamondbacks at Padres
After limping home on a six-game losing skid, the San Diego Padres will look to reverse their fortune when they return to the Golden State. The reeling Padres will face a tall order in their mission when they open their three-game set against the National League West rival Arizona Diamondbacks. Left-hander Wade Miley will look to run his unbeaten streak to four games against light-hitting San Diego.
The Diamondbacks salvaged the finale of a three-game set versus division rival San Francisco - and will attempt to build on a successful three-game stint versus the Padres earlier in April. Arizona claimed two of three from San Diego on April 10-12. The Padres finished a 1-9 road trip with an 8-6 setback to the Chicago Cubs on Wednesday.

PITCHING MATCHUP: Diamondbacks LH Wade Miley (6-1, 2.41 ERA) vs. Padres LH Clayton Richard (2-6, 4.76 ERA)
By posting three straight wins, Miley has rebounded quite nicely from his lone loss of the season. The 25-year-old yielded three unearned runs over six innings on Saturday as Arizona recorded an 8-5 triumph over Milwaukee. Miley faced San Diego on two occasions last season, losing one while settling for a no-decision in the other.
Richard's season isn't going so well as he yielded two homers and four runs total in a 9-0 loss to the New York Mets on Saturday. The 28-year-old has won all three of his career decisions versus Arizona, but is nursing a 5.40 ERA and a 1.57 WHIP. Chris Young has fared well, however, going 4-for-9 with a pair of homers.
WALK-OFFS
1. San Diego's Carlos Quentin collected three homers and six RBIs as he went 7-for-12 against Chicago.
2. Padres outfielder Cameron Maybin is expected to return to the lineup on Friday. Maybin has been sidelined since spraining his right wrist against the Mets on Saturday.
3. While Miley has been solid on the mound, he's also making noise at the plate. He is riding a seven-game hitting streak.
