White Sox 7, Orioles 6

A.J. Pierzynski homered and drove in three runs as the Chicago White Sox rallied for a 7-6 victory at Baltimore on Monday evening.

After J.J. Hardy had given the Orioles a 6-5 lead with a three-run homer in the seventh inning, the White Sox regained the upper hand against Baltimore reliever Jim Johnson (5-4) in the eighth on a sacrifice fly by Pierzynski and an Alex Rios RBI single.

Jesse Crain (6-3) got the win for Chicago despite allowing the home run to Hardy, working 1 1/3 innings in relief of John Danks. Sergio Santos pitched a 1-2-3 ninth for his 23rd save.

The White Sox jumped in front early with four runs in the second inning, getting a solo home run from Pierzynski and a two-run shot from Gordon Beckham. Baltimore cut the gap to one with two runs in the third inning and another in the fifth, but Pierzynski singled home another run in the sixth to give Chicago a 5-3 edge.

Jeremy Guthrie worked seven innings for the Orioles, allowing four earned runs on eight hits while striking out two without a walk. Danks finished with seven strikeouts while yielding five runs on seven hits in 6 1/3 innings.
