White Sox 6, Mariners 0

Alex Rios went 4-for-4 and Gavin Floyd allowed three hits in eight innings as the Chicago White Sox recorded a 6-0 victory over the host Seattle Mariners on Saturday.

Gordon Beckham and Brent Morel had three hits apiece as Chicago rolled up 17 hits and snapped a three-game losing streak.

Floyd (4-2) struck out six and walked two while encountering little resistance from the Mariners. He retired the final nine batters he faced before Tony Pena pitched the ninth.

Chicago scored in the first against Doug Fister (2-4) when Adam Dunn doubled with two outs and scored on Paul Konerko’s single.

The White Sox added two runs in the fifth when Juan Pierre was hit by a pitch with the bases loaded and Dunn delivered a sacrifice fly.

Chicago struck for two more in the sixth on Beckham’s run-scoring single and Morel’s RBI double. Mark Teahen drove in the final run with a single in the ninth.

Chicago’s hit total was one shy of a season high. The White Sox had 18 hits in the season-opening contest against Cleveland.

Fister gave up five runs and 14 hits in 5 2/3 innings.

Ichiro Suzuki had two of Seattle’s three hits.
