John Danks pitched 7 1/3 strong innings for his first win of the season, propelling the Chicago White Sox to a 3-1 home victory over Seattle on Monday night.
Danks (1-8), who had been moved back in the rotation after giving up nine earned runs in his last start, snapped his streak off 11 consecutive starts to begin a season without a win, the longest by a White Sox hurler since Dan Wright's streak of 15 starts to begin 2003. The lefthander scattered seven hits and struck out six while walking just one. He left after allowing his lone run of the night on an RBI single by Brendan Ryan in the eighth inning.
Paul Konerko led off the fourth inning with a home run, taking a 0-1 pitch from Michael Pineda over the left-field wall. Chicago added what would prove to be the winning run in the seventh when A.J. Pierzynski scored on a base hit by Gordon Beckham. Pierzynski singled home an insurance run in the eighth.
Pineda (6-3) took the loss despite allowing just five hits and two walks in seven innings.
