Angels 6, Yankees 4

Bobby Abreu's belted his second home run of the game, a two-run shot in the ninth inning, to lift the visiting Los Angeles Angels to a 6-4 victory over New York Yankees on Tuesday night.

Abreu had his first multi-homer game since Sept. 19, 2010, to hand Yankees closer Mariano Rivera (1-2) the loss two nights after he blew a save in Boston.

Torii Hunter had three hits to extend his hitting streak to seven games, and Jeff Mathis contributed a two-run double for his first multi-RBI game since May 23 for Los Angeles.

Scott Downs (6-2) pitched one inning for the victory and rookie Jordan Walden worked around a jam in the ninth by picking off Curtis Granderson to end the game for his 26th save.

Derek Jeter had a two-run single and Granderson homered for the Yankees, who lost their third straight.

Angels starter Dan Haren was charged with four runs in 6 2/3 innings after Jeter's two-run single off Fernando Rodney tied it at 4-4 in the seven.

Yankees starter A.J. Burnett allowed all four runs in the sixth inning to remain winless in his last seven starts.
