Blue Jays 3, Yankees 0
Adam Lind homered twice to help the Toronto Blue Jays to a 3-0 victory over the visiting New York Yankees on Sunday.
Brandon Morrow (10-11) allowed four hits over eight shutout innings to win for the first time since Aug. 17 and keep New York from increasing its 4 1/2-game lead over second-place Boston, which lost to Tampa Bay on Sunday, in the American League East.
Morrow struck out eight and walked one to end a personal four-game losing skid as Toronto took two of three games in the series.
Frank Francisco struck out Alex Rodriguez with a runner on second in the ninth for his 16th save.
Lind led off the second with a homer off Freddy Garcia (11-8) and then went deep again with one out in the fourth. The multihomer game was the seventh of Lind’s career.
Toronto added a run in the fifth on Eric Thames’ sacrifice fly.
Eduardo Nunez had three of New York’s five hits. Garcia gave up three runs and five hits in 4 2/3 innings.
