Blue Jays 5, Rangers 2
Corey Patterson drove in the go-ahead run in the ninth on a squeeze bunt as the visiting Toronto Blue Jays topped the Texas Rangers, 5-2, on Thursday afternoon.
Adam Lind added a two-run homer and John McDonald singled and scored for the Blue Jays, who took three of four in the series.
Toronto began its rally with one out in the ninth when McDonald sent a single into center. Yunel Escobar came on as a pinch hitter and blooped a single into right off Darren Oliver (1-2), sending McDonald around to third.
Patterson followed and laid down a perfect safety squeeze to the right side, reaching first and allowing McDonald to scamper home. The Blue Jays tacked on two more runs on a couple of errors to complete the frame.
Frank Francisco (1-0) got the final out of the eighth and worked a perfect ninth to earn the win.
Brandon Morrow and Alexi Ogando worked to a draw, with each starter allowing two runs in six innings.
