Rangers 12, Blue Jays 2
Nelson Cruz had four hits, including a mammoth home run, and finished with a career-high eight RBIs as the host Texas Rangers trounced the Toronto Blue Jays 12-2 on Friday night.
Cruz wound up a triple shy of the cycle as he surpassed a six-RBI performance he had earlier this season.
His three-run homer off Jo-Jo Reyes (5-8) put Texas up 5-0 in the fourth, and he added a two-run single in the fifth. His fourth hit of the night in the sixth off reliever Shawn Camp brought home two more runs.
Colby Lewis (10-7) held Toronto without a hit until J.P. Arencibia swatted his first of two solo home runs to lead off the sixth. Lewis allowed a run on two hits over 6 2/3 innings as the Rangers won their eighth straight home game and 13th in their last 15 overall.
Texas' Michael Young had four hits and four runs scored.
Reyes was tagged for eight runs on eight hits over 4 1/3 innings, his shortest outing since June 28. He has surrendered 15 runs in his last 9 2/3 innings to bump his ERA nearly a full point in that span.
Rangers third baseman Adrian Beltre left in the fifth with a strained left hamstring and is expected to undergo an MRI on Saturday.
