Brewers 4, Rockies 3
Casey McGehee drove in two runs and the Milwaukee Brewers’ new-look bullpen delivered for the second straight day en route to a 4-3 victory over the host Colorado Rockies on Sunday.
George Kottaras and Mark Kotsay each added an RBI for the Brewers, who were without All-Star Ryan Braun due to a calf injury.
McGehee, who had gone seven straight games without and RBI and nine straight without a multi-hit game, got it started with a sacrifice fly off Aaron Cook (0-5) in the second and made it a 3-1 edge with an RBI single in the fifth.
Shaun Marcum (8-3) allowed a solo home run to Jason Giambi leading off the sixth and was removed two pitches later with a neck injury. Marcum, who allowed four hits and two runs in five-plus innings, had made a diving throw on a bunt attempt to end the fifth, landing awkwardly on his right side.
LaTroy Hawkins, Takashi Saito and Francisco Rodriguez each pitched a scoreless inning of relief. John Axford allowed an unearned run in the ninth but struck out Troy Tulowitzki with the tying run on second to notch his 25th save.
