Giants 1, Diamondbacks 0

Tim Lincecum tossed six solid innings and Angel Pagan scored in his return from the 60-day disabled list as visiting San Francisco won the opener of the three-game series.

Brandon Belt plated Pagan with a sacrifice fly in the first inning for the Giants, who have won four of six overall and nine of 13 meetings with their National League West rival.

Miguel Montero and Adam Eaton each had two hits for the Diamondbacks, who have dropped two in a row to remain six games behind Cincinnati in the race for the second wild card.

Lincecum (8-13) posted his second straight win after scattering six hits and working out of a bases-loaded jam in the sixth inning. The two-time NL Cy Young Award winner watched as two relievers bridged the gap to Sergio Romo, who retired the side in the ninth for his 33rd save.

Pagan, who had been sidelined since late May following hamstring surgery, gave the Giants all the offense they would need. Pagan doubled to right field off Randall Delgado (4-5) before advancing to third on a sacrifice by Marco Scutaro. Belt lifted a fly ball to center to plate Pagan for the early advantage.

GAME NOTEBOOK: Pagan batted in the leadoff position and went 1-for-3. To make room for Pagan on the 40-man roster, San Francisco shuffled OF Andres Torres (heel) from the 15- to the 60-day disabled list. The Giants also optioned OF Francisco Peguero to Triple-A Fresno. ... Delgado saw his winless streak reach five games despite permitting just one run on three hits in seven innings. ... Belt went 0-for-3 to see his six-game hitting streak come to an end.
