Donovan Solano’s pinch-hit ninth-inning single scored Ed Lucas with the go-ahead run as Miami handed Atlanta a rare home series loss.
Solano’s two-out liner to right plated Lucas, who reached on a leadoff walk by Atlanta closer Craig Kimbrel (2-2). Marcell Ozuna homered as part of a three-hit night, A.J. Ramos (3-2) pitched two scoreless innings of relief for the victory and Steve Cishek benefited from Giancarlo Stanton’s diving catch in right field in the ninth for his 17th save.
Brian McCann and Andrelton Simmons finished with two hits apiece for the Braves, who lost a home series for just the second time this season.
Miami trailed 3-0 but battled back on Ozuna’s solo homer in the second, Lucas’ run-scoring groundout in the third and Ozuna’s RBI single in the fourth. Atlanta starter Julio Teheran struck out seven in five innings, surrendering three runs on six hits.
The Braves scored three times in the first off Miami starter Henderson Alvarez, as Freddie Freeman laced a two-run single and McCann added a run-scoring double. Alvarez settled down, retiring 11 in a row, and allowed three runs on five hits over five innings in his Marlins debut.
GAME NOTEBOOK: Ozuna recorded his fourth three-hit game of the season; the rookie also has a four-hit game. … Atlanta placed OF Jordan Schafer (ankle contusion) on the disabled list and promoted OF Joey Terdoslavich from Triple-A Gwinnett. Terdoslavich struck out in the eighth. … The Miami bullpen fired four scoreless innings, holding Atlanta to two hits while striking out five.
