Braves 7, Marlins 1 (14)

Gerald Laird added a two-run single and Chris Johnson also drove in a run in the big inning.

David Carpenter (2-0) earned the win with two scoreless innings. He worked out of a major jam in the 13th, getting a double-play ball from Logan Morrison and a flyout from Adeiny Hechavarria after allowing the first two batters to reach.

The Braves also got out of trouble in the sixth and seventh, as Mike Minor struck out Jeff Mathis to leave the bases loaded in the sixth and Jordan Walden stranded two men in scoring position in the seventh.

Minor allowed one run on six hits over 6 1/3 innings but remained winless in his last five starts. Six Atlanta relievers shut out the Marlins the rest of the way.
