Padres 6, Dodgers 2

Jesus Guzman and Everth Cabrera had three hits apiece as visiting San Diego salvaged a victory in the finale of the three-game series.

Padres starter Jason Marquis (7-2) took a no-hitter into the sixth inning before leaving with one out in the seventh after allowing two runs and three hits. Jedd Gyorko homered and scored twice for San Diego.

Dodgers left-hander Clayton Kershaw (5-4) was lifted for a pinch-hitter after throwing 120 pitches through six innings, allowing three runs (two earned) and seven hits while striking out nine and walking three. Scott Van Slyke’s solo home run in the seventh cut the deficit to one.

Skip Schumaker ended Marquis’ no-hit bid with a two-out double in the sixth and Adrian Gonzalez followed with an RBI single to ruin the shutout. The Dodgers cut the deficit to 3-2 on Van Slyke’s sixth homer since he was called up from the minors May 10, knocking Marquis from the game.

The Padres scored a run in the second on an RBI single by Yasmani Grandal, another in the fourth on Gyorko’s leadoff homer and went ahead 3-0 in the sixth on Guzman’s double to shallow right center, scoring Gyorko after he led off with a walk. San Diego tacked on three insurance runs in the ninth, two coming home on sacrifice flies.
