Marlins 8, Nationals 3

Marlins 8, Nationals 3:
Marcell Ozuna’s three-run triple sparked a five-run first inning against Stephen Strasburg and host Miami won the opener of the three-game series.

Giancarlo Stanton added a two-run homer in the second off Strasburg (5-7), who walked three of the first four batters he faced and was pulled after yielding seven runs over two innings. The Marlins have won two straight following a five-game losing streak.

Strasburg was staked to a 3-0 first-inning lead when Adam LaRoche doubled in two runs and Bryce Harper scored on Jayson Werth’s groundout before the Marlins’ offense erupted.

Strasburg allowed five runs in an inning for the first time in his career when Ozuna cleared the bases with a one-out triple while Derek Dietrich and Nathan Eovaldi added RBI singles. Eovaldi (2-0) settled in after the first and left after giving up three runs on as many hits with four walks over six frames.

Ross Ohlendorf tossed four scoreless innings in relief for Washington, which fell to 1-4 on its seven-game road trip. The Nationals had two runners on with two outs in the seventh, but Harper flied out to deep center against Ryan Webb to end the threat.
