Josh Hamilton and Alberto Callaspo had two RBIs apiece and C.J. Wilson pitched eight strong innings as host Los Angeles completed a two-game series sweep to stretch Seattle’s losing skid to six games.
Mark Trumbo had three hits and Mike Trout recorded a pair one day after hitting for the cycle as the Angels won their fourth straight game. Los Angeles outscored Seattle 19-1 over the two games and has scored 37 runs during its winning streak.
Wilson (4-3) struck out 10 while allowing one run and six hits to snap a three-game slide. The only run against Wilson scored on an eighth-inning grounder by Michael Saunders.
Hamilton had a two-run single, Callaspo smacked a two-run double and Hank Conger added a run-scoring single as the Angels scored five first-inning runs against Brandon Maurer (2-6). Trout tripled and scored on a single by Albert Pujols in the second and Erick Aybar’s third-inning single increased Los Angeles’ lead to 7-0.
Maurer allowed seven runs and 11 hits in three innings. He grew up about 15 miles south of Anaheim and this was his first major-league outing at Angels Stadium.
GAME NOTEBOOK: Wilson has fanned 19 in 13 1/3 innings against the Mariners this season. … Seattle DH Kendrys Morales had three hits and went 4-for-8 in his first series in Anaheim since Los Angeles traded him to the Mariners. … Angels ace Jered Weaver (elbow) struck out nine in 5 2/3 innings in an extended spring-training game Wednesday and is moving closer to a return.
